Blyth Memorial Hall Hosting 'Dinner And A Doc'

The Centre for Rural Creativity and the Huron County Immigration Partnership are hosting a unique event Thursday night at the Blyth Memorial Community Hall.

Centre Project Co-ordinator Peter Smith explains the event started out as a pilot project for a series of documentaries that he hopes to run at the theatre in the fall. But after speaking with a woman from Syria who has recently arrived in Canada and wants to start her own cooking business, he invited her to prepare a meal for the event.

Smith says that conversation evolved into three days of preparation, with help from several local chefs.   The event is now called Dinner and a Doc. It runs from 6pm to 9pm Thursday evening at the Blyth Memorial Community Hall.

Tickets can be obtained by contacting Peter Smith at 519-955-4594 or peter@blyth1419.ca

"I've got some local chefs involved," says Smith. "I got someone from Queen's Bakery, someone from Part II, someone from Cowbell as well as one of the women from Wingham, a Syrian woman I interviewed, she's gonna help out one afternoon in the kitchen."
