Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Liberals Elect Candidate For Provincial Election

The Bruce Grey Owen Sound Liberals have their candidate for the coming provincial election.

Francesca Dobbyn was acclaimed at a nomination meeting in Owen Sound. Dobbyn says incumbent Conservative Bill Walker is beatable and she plans to make it happen.

"I think what we need to talk about is policy, I think what we need to talk about is what we value in our community and we need to talk about what changes and positive things have happened under this Liberal government for the last 13 years," says Dobbyn.

Dobbyn says many people are feeling they've been left out of the economic boom Ontario is experiencing and that's why the Conservative's brand of populism has taken root. She says the Liberals will build on their foundation of caring through things like raising the minimum wage and expanded pharmacare.

Dobbyn is taking a leave of absence from her job as executive director of the Bruce Grey United Way.
