Storm Causing Major Driving Issues, Buses Cancelled

Winter weather is causing extremely poor afternoon driving conditions.

High winds, blowing snow and pockets of near-zero visibility have forced the OPP to close Hwy. 21.

Both directions are barricaded from Sutton Road in Kincardine and Concession 6/Bruce Rd. 25 in Port Elgin.

Meantime, all school buses are cancelled this afternoon in Kincardine, Port Elgin and Southampton and Paisley.

In town, buses will run only in Kincardine. Georgian College Owen Sound campus is also closed tonight and classes are cancelled.

The Maitland Valley and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authorities report that low lying flooding and bluff erosion is possible along the Lake Huron shoreline.

The combination of strong winds and high water levels will lead to high waves.

There are scattered power outages reported by Hydro One, and crews are making repairs.
