Brockton Prepares For Rebranding

Branding is key in today’s media-driven world, and Brockton is attempting to ramp up its municipal branding to help advertise what it has to offer.

The municipality held a branding initiative open house Tuesday night, facilitated by eSolutionsGroup.

Gary Williams, the chief communications officer with eSolutions, says the purpose of the sessions was to connect with residents and businesses and pinpoint what makes Brockton special.

"What are some of the words, some of the things that make this community distinct? What we want to do with that is not just take that and create a logo, we want to create a logo and a brand, but tell the story about what is special about Brockton," he says. "We want to hear from the community, the residents, the businesses."

Williams says working with the local businesses and residents to help attract new ones is a key part of the branding strategy.

"We’re not just here to develop a logo, it’s much more than that. It’s the story of Brockton, what makes it special," he says. "Why would someone want to visit here, start a business here, move here, and what makes you as a resident proud about Brockton?"

Deputy Mayor Dan Gieruszak says the hope is that a greater emphasis on telling Brockton’s story will yield positive results down the road.

"Our businesses need people, they’re looking for employees," says Gieruszak. So there’s some real components to the quality of life that we have here that this branding exercise is going to help us move towards."

Brockton will develop a new municipal logo and use it with a new website that will showcase what makes Brockton an attractive place to live and do business.
