Waterloo 6 Kitchener 5

The Waterloo Siskins barely staved off elimination with a 6-5 win over Kitchener in Game 5 of their Midwestern Conference quarter final. Curtis Rawn scored the game winner with just one second left in regulation after a back and forth affair that saw both teams take the lead.

Parker Casey scored short handed less than three minutes into the game to put the Siskins on the board. Carter Tresoor's power play goal at 8:54 made it 2-0 Waterloo and Alex Potter scored on the power play about 30 seconds later to make it 3-0 for the Siskins.

Ben Morris put the Dutchmen on the board with a power play goal of his own at 18:51 of the opening frame making it 3-1 Waterloo heading into the second.

Tyler Harrison's power play goal just 1:20 into the second narrowed the gap for the Dutchmen and Morris' second power play goal of the game tied it in the first half of the second. Matt Marinier scored at the midway point to give the Dutchmen the lead but that was short lived. Rawn's first goal of the game tied it again just over a minute later. Blair Derynck put the Dutchmen ahead again at 12:15 and the score would be 5-4 Kitchener heading into the third.

Sam Spaedt scored the equalizer on the power play at 12:03 of the third.

Brett Miller earned the win with 30 saves.

Game 6 is tonight in Kitchener at the Kinsmen Arena at 7:30 p.m.
