The future of the Emergency Services Training Centre in Blyth is uncertain.
Deputy Fire Chief Chad Kregar made a presentation to North Huron council Tuesday, noting a lack of communication when it comes to setting up programs at the centre, something he wants dealt with immediately.
Kregar stressed the centre needs to start planning courses, saying he is taking a lot of calls from potential applicants and isn't exactly sure what to tell them.
Kregar's options were: 1. Close the building 2. Remain status quo 3. Contact the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs to seek guidance on how to make the centre viable 4. Form a board 5. Sell the building to a private company
The deputy chief would not comment to CKNX News about his presentation, saying his comments on this matter would give the impression that the centre is suffering, and may turn away potential applicants or future business partnerships.
North Huron CAO Dwayne Evans says staff have been directed to look at some of the five options Kregar laid out for council.
Council also made a motion to further research how to make the Emergency Services Training Centre more viable.
