GOJHL Wrap: Warriors Ride Early lead to Victory

Stratford 5 Guelph 1

The Stratford Warriors took a 3-0 lead in the first period and went on to beat Guelph 5-1.

Jack Scanlan scored and set up two for the Warriors. Kaleb Pearson had a pair of goals in the win.

The Warriors chased Trenton McGrail from the Hurricanes net with just over three minutes left in the first period. McGrail had allowed three goals on 13 shots. Jet Greaves made 18 saves on 20 shots in relief.

The Warriors were 2-7 with the man advantage with both of those power play goals coming in the first.

Liam Buckley spoiled Ruan Badenhorst's shut out bid at 6:30 of the third period.

Kitchener 3 Brantford 3 (2OT)

The 99er's Christian Polillo scored midway through the third period to tie the game as Bratnford played the Kitchener Dutchman to a 3-3 tie.

Neither team was able to score in either overtime period. The Dutchmen got goals from Jeb Paulsen, Sean Kawalec and Sam Shaw.

Kitchener gave up 12 power play opportunities and the 99ers capitalized on two of them. The Dutchmen were 0-2 with the man advantage.

Matthew Chan made 33 saves for Kitchener. Mat Woroniuk stopped 39 shots for Brantford.

Chatham 4 St. Marys 2

The Lincolns led 1-0 after the first but let it slip, falling 4-2 to Chatham.

Jake Mooring opened the scoring for St. Marys just 41 seconds into the game.

Dalton Bancroft had the Lincolns' other goal early in the third period.

Evan Morrison suffered the loss, allowing two goals on 26 shots before being replaced in the third by Jacob Hutchings who stopped 12 of 14 shots.

Lucas Patton made 22 saves for the Maroons.
