Owen Sound Woman Charged With Multiple Thefts

An Owen Sound woman has been charged with numerous criminal offences, including 13 counts of theft from coin-operated laundry machines.

The investigation by the Owen Sound Police Service revealed that thefts have occurred on a number of occasions at two downtown apartment buildings between late December and earlier this month.

The 40-year-old woman was arrested in the downtown area Wednesday. Upon arrest, the accused was found in possession of a homemade tool she had used to remove coins from the machines.  She was also in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl.

The woman is also charged with multiple counts of possession of break-in instruments, as well as three counts of mischief, having caused damage to laundry machines during the course of the thefts as well as a surveillance camera that she covered using a marker in an attempt to conceal her activities.

The woman was also charged with possession of fentanyl.

She has been released from custody and will appear in Owen Sound court next month.
