Changes Proposed To Source Water Protection Plan

The Ausable Bayfield and Maitland Valley Conservation Authorities are proposing some changes to their Source Water Protection Plan.

Huron County Planning Director Sandra Weber says the Authorities were asking for municipal endorsement to changes that include maps to incorporate both new and revised well-head protection areas.

Those areas are in Blyth, Varna, Molesworth, Benmiller and Dungannon.

And there are two policy revisions that would extend the time-lines for risk management plans to be completed.

“The changes are the result of either new wells or wells that have been moved to a different location so the same policies apply. There have been changes in the mapping as a result of changes to municipal wells,” said Weber.

Weber adds the changes also include more flexibility for officials to provide direction to staff about risk management.
