Joyride On Stolen Snowmobile Ends In Collision In Perth South

The snowmobile season has not started yet, but there's already been a snowmobile crash in the area.

A citizen flagged down a Perth County OPP officer Wednesday to report a collision along Perth Line 26 in the Township of Perth South.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and an investigation revealed that the snowmobile was stolen.

Ryan Baillie, 25, of West Perth was taken to hospital in Stratford for treatment of minor injuries.

He was then charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, careless driving, and driving while under suspension.

Perth County OPP are reminding riders that a valid driver's licence, ownership slip, validation sticker and insurance are required.

Always wear an approved helmet, and stop before crossing every road and railway track. Stay on designated trails and obtain a permit. Obey posted speed limits and carry an emergency survival kit, including a charged cell phone.
