Stratford Man Arrested For Extortion

Police in Stratford have arrested a man for his involvement in extorting over a dozen women for sexual purposes.

The accused would use fake Instagram and Snapchat accounts to lure women and convince them to send naked photographs of themselves, with his promise of large amounts of money.

After receiving the photographs, police allege that 22-year-old Josh Alexander would not pay the women, but would send the images back to the women and threaten to send the pictures to their Facebook friends and family members.

Alexander faces 35 criminal charges stemming from the investigation, including 16 counts of extortion.

Victims have been contacted across the province, and it's believed that there are more victims that have not come forward.

Police are urging anyone who has been a victim or who has information regarding this offence to contact the Stratford Police Criminal Investigations Division.
