Sewer Capacity Holds Up Bayfield Residential Development

A proposal to build three, four-storey apartment buildings on property off Cameron Street, behind Foodland at the south end of Bayfield has been withdrawn.

Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel says the application that came before council this week was to sever the only house currently sitting on the almost eight-acre lot.

Hessel explains the applicant eventually hopes to build seventeen single-family homes on the property in the future but also understands that won't happen for a while because the municipality doesn't have the sewer capacity to support that kind of development.

The application to sever the house was approved.
