Sale Possible Soon Of Former Bluewater Centre Property

The director of Huron County's Economic Development Department believes it won't be too long before the province is ready to sell the former Bluewater Youth Centre property south of Goderich.

Cody Joudry says the only thing holding up the process is an archaeological study, and once that's completed he believes things will happen fairly quickly.

Joudry says it's a valuable piece of property and there's no doubt someone will be ready to buy it from Infrastructure Ontario.

Joudry concedes there would be some benefits if the land was purchased and developed for homes and cottages, but he also believes the potential is there for much more than that, and if Central Huron and the county don't take advantage of that potential it would be a serious missed opportunity.

"I think Infrastructure Ontario wants to see this matter dealt with at a reasonable speed," according to Joudry. "I don't think they're gonna be waiting for a year for a response from Central Huron on whether they wanna purchase the property or not, so it's more about being prepared for it when it does happen."
