Arthur Chamber Names Outstanding Citizen

An active community supporter and Arthur businessperson, the late Mary Schmidt, has been named Arthur’s Outstanding Citizen by the Arthur District Chamber of Commerce.

Outgoing Chamber President Corey Bilton said Schmidt's dedication to the Village of Arthur "knew no bounds".

Mary Schmidt died of cancer last July.

The award was accepted by her husband John and other family members.

Meanwhile, outgoing President Corey Bilton told the annual general meeting Wednesday that if new members don’t step forward, the Arthur Chamber could face closure or the possibility of merging with the Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce.

The Arthur Chamber now has 62 members.
