OHL Wrap: The Attack Lose, Storm Win

The Owen Sound Attack couldn’t solve Justin Fazio and lost 7-0 to the Sarnia Sting.

Fazio made 39 saves in net for the Sting. Zack Bowman allowed 5 goals on 20 shots before he was replaced by Mack Guzda in the third. Guzda made 12 saves on 10 shots in relief.

Hugo Leufvenius set up three of the Sting’s goals and earned first star honours in the game.

Adam Ruzicka scored and set up two for the Sting. Jordan Kyrou had a pair of goals for Sarnia.

Owen Sound is now a point behind Kitchener for the Midwest Division lead. The Sting lead the West Division with 20 points and one more win than Sault Ste. Marie.

Guelph 5 Sudbury 1

Ryan Merkley set up four of the Storm’s goals in Guleph’s 5-1 win over Sudbury.

Isaac Ratcliffe scored and set up two for the Storm. Cam Hillis had two goals including the eventual game winner in the second in the victory and Liam Hawel scored and added an assist.

The Storm chased Marshall Frappier from net, firing 29 shots at the Wolves’ netminder and scoring five goals. Jake McGrath stopped all 5 shots he faced in the third.

Anthony Popovich made 30 saves in the win. His shut out bid was spoiled by Macauley Carson’s power play goal in the second period.
