Sting Dominate Owen Sound 7-0

Justin Fazio stopped all 39 shots as the Sarnia Sting shut out the Owen Sound Attack 7-0 Sunday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sting improve to 16-3-1 on the season with 33 points in the OHL Midwest Division, just one point ahead of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the lead.

Jordan Kyrou started the scoring with the first of two goals on the afternoon, at 5:14 in the first period.

The Sting then opened it up with four goals in the second period. Anthony Salinitri began it with a power play goal at 2:13. Kyrou soon followed with his second goal of the game. Curtis Egert made it 4-0 Sarnia with the first OHL goal of his career and Adam Ruzicka added to the lead before the second intermission.

Ruzicka also had two assists in the game. Swedish import Hugo Leufvenius collected three assists and was named the game's first star.

Ryan McGregor and Jordan Ernst scored Sting goals in the third period of the game.

Zack Bowman was between the pipes for Owen Sound the first two periods and was replaced by Mack Guzda. They had a total of 32 saves.

The Sting next travel to Flint Wednesday morning for a rare weekday matinee against the Firebirds. Owen Sound is in Windsor Thursday night to take on the Spitfires.
