OPP Billing Model May Be Changing For 2018

The mayor of Central Huron says he's not sure whether changes to the OPP billing model will be good news or bad news for his municipality.

Jim Ginn is not expecting any major improvement in Central Huron's policing costs. He says there's always a cost for policing, and if someone's costs go down, someone else's costs have to go up to balance it out.  Ginn says he's not sure which side Central Huron will fall on.

“We haven't seen how the numbers are going to affect us. I don't think it's going to make a lot of difference. I don't see any benefits really coming towards us but until we actually get the information I'd just be speculating," says Ginn. “It's always hard to know, I mean there's a cost to the policing and some people will have theirs reduced and somebody else's has to go up to make it all balance so at this point I'm not sure whether it's a good news story or a bad news story.”
