Bruce Power Employees and Suppliers Raise Thousands at Soccer Tournament

The first-ever Bruce Power Challenger’s Cup Charity Soccer Tournament raised over $30,000 as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the United Way of Bruce Grey.

The soccer tournament, held in Kincardine on Oct. 14th and 15th, featured 12 Bruce Power teams playing down on Saturday to determine the top three, who then faced off on Sunday.

They were up against suppliers from across Ontario, including teams from ES Fox, Kinectrics, AMEC Foster Wheeler, SNC-Lavalin, BWXT Canada, ATS Technologies, EMC and RCM Technologies.

The team from RCM Technologies was the eventual champion.

"It was a great weekend of competitive and fun soccer," said Richard Horrobin, Bruce Power’s Vice President and Managing Director of Supply Chain.  "The camaraderie shown between Bruce Power employees and our partners was wonderful to experience, and we thank these companies for helping us raise funds for such an important organization."

Francesca Dobbyn, Executive Director of the United Way of Bruce Grey, was thrilled with the success of the tournament. "It’s always special when you can have a great time while raising thousands of dollars for those who are in need of assistance through one of our member organizations.   We thank Bruce Power and all the supplier companies for their continuing support."
