Sunday's Strong Wind Knocks Out Power, Snaps Trees

Hydro One crews are still dealing with a number of power outages across southern and midwestern Ontario Monday, following Sunday's wind and rain storm.

A gusty wind brought trees and branches down on power lines, and several poles were broken.

The power outages are not widespread, and crews are still trying to get individual customers back on the grid in parts of southern Perth and southern Huron counties.

Several Stratford neighbourhoods were hit hard by Sunday's storm. A number of homes and vehicles were damaged by falling limbs and downed trees. An apartment building on Kappele Circle had a portion of its roof blown off.

There was also damage along Huron and Ontario streets from O'Loane Ave. to Romeo St. As well, there was damage from Franklin Dr. to John St. where several large trees were uprooted.

Some areas were without power for several hours. Despite all the damage, police say there were no injuries.
