Wellington North Working On Opioid Response StrategyOctober 12, 2017 4:23am
Wellington North is pursuing the issue of opioid abuse, which was raised by a member of the public at a recent council meeting.
Mayor Andy Lennox says police, fire, public health and ambulance are being included in the discussion.
At present firefighters do not carry the antidote kits, but that is under discussion. Firefighters respond with ventilation and CPR.
There have been just two calls in the past year to the Wellington North Fire Service regarding an opioid overdose.
Mayor Lennox says council is awaiting a response to the problem from the OPP, ambulance, fire service, and public health which operate through Wellington County.
