Future Of Bayfield Arena To Be Discussed This Week

The Bayfield Facility Initiative Team is hosting an information meeting this week to discuss the future of the Bayfield Arena and Community Centre.

Spokesperson Sandy Scotchmer explains says members of the Bayfield Arena Community Partners Association will join the members of BFIT as well as residents of the village who want to see the ice remain in the arena. Scotchmer says discuss their collaboration on a plan going forward as well as the terms of reference for a feasibility study being proposed by council. Scotchmer says they also want to introduce a drawing that was done for them of a facility that includes all of the things people told them they would like to see in a new complex in Bayfield.

She also says she hopes councillors will be there and adds BFIT and BACPA members are very interested in following council's discussion of the feasibility study, who's going to be on the committee that works on the study and what the terms of reference will be. The meeting is being held Tuesday night at the seven o'clock at the Bayfield Town Hall.

“We also want to introduce a drawing that was done for us, of a beautiful arena, actually placing all the things in that when we held public discussions people told us they wanted to see in a new complex.”

“We hope that they're there. We want to you know, very carefully follow council through any motions that they make regarding the feasibility study, who's going to be on the committee and the terms of reference are going to be extremely important to us.”
