Huron County To Get YMCA Settlement Services

The YMCA of Western Ontario is bring Settlement Services to Huron County.

Newcomer Settlement Advisor Firas Sefian explains the program will work with newcomers and their families in assessing their needs and then creating a settlement plan that will help them in terms of things like housing, education and health care. Sefian adds if they can't provide the services that a newcomer requires they will attempt to put them in touch with someone who can help them.

He adds he doesn't have a cell phone yet but will be getting one shortly and newcomers can contact him by emil at fsefian@ymcawo.ca. He also says they'll be opening an office in Huron County in the near future and the location will be determined by local demand.

“So we work with newcomer families in terms of us working on their integration and settlement once they reach Huron County," says Sefian. "So we would now try to work with many different things in terms of housing, education, health care, so kind of going through an orientation and coming with a settlement plan for them.”
