The Avon Maitland District School Board is looking for a new trustee.
The resignation of Goderich-area trustee Judy Cairncross was accepted at Tuesday night's board meeting.
The board will be advertising in local newspapers and on social meeting asking interested candidates to come forward.
Board Director Lisa Walsh says they hope they can find someone in the Goderich area, but anyone living in Huron or Perth and who is able to vote and has an interest in public education would be eligible.
The deadline for applications is October 6, after which successful candidates will be interviewed by members of the board.
This position will run from November 1, 2018 to November 30, 2018. After that, it will be fulfilled through the school trustee election process in November 2018.
"The deadline for expressions of interest is October the 6 and it's for any resident of Huron and Perth counties," says Walsh. "Look on our web site. We will be also posting in our local papers and sending out a tweet. Our Chair, Randy Wagler, will be sending a letter to the three school councils to let them know that this vacancy is existing and that he is accessible if they need anything in the meantime."
