2017 IPM Tent City Starting To Take Shape

The site of the tented city for the 2017 IPM near Walton looked like any other hay field Wednesday afternoon, but Tent City Co-ordinator Jeff McGavin says that will all change within days.

Once the hay is off, they'll start staking out the tent city the first of next week.

McGavin says they'll have about 200 tents on 160 acres and then RV's on the adjacent 100 acres.

Hydro and water lines are in, and crews will come in next Wednesday to flag the actual sites for each tent.

McGavin says they also have someone taking video each day from a drone as the tent city goes up and they hope to post that on their website so people can follow the progress. The website can be found by clicking here.

McGavin says the 1,400 volunteers are doing a great job and he doesn't anticipate any problems.

McGavin also says they still have a few spots for exhibitors but they're going fast so anyone hoping to set up a booth at the IPM should drop into the office at the Walton Community Centre.

"We have the 160 acres here that'll be covered by the tents and next to it will be the RV Park which covers another 100 acres," says McGavin. "So the hay's coming off, they're bailing it right now. Once that's off we'll start staking for the tents to go up at the first of the week. So I think there's close to 200."
