Huron County Prepares For Service Delivery Study

The Huron County's Economic Development Board held a special meeting this week to define exactly what they want a consultant to look at in terms of service delivery by the county.

County council approved the hiring of a consultant earlier this month.

Board Chair Jim Lynn says they wants the review to focus on the delivery of services as they relate to economic development, and that's not the perception of some partner municipalities.

Lynn says the feedback he's getting is some councillors are opposed to the study because they believe it's the beginning of single-tier government.

Lynn says they're not entering into the review with any preconceived notions about the outcomes, and they'll be requesting an opportunity to address the partner municipal councils about their goals for the review.

Lynn adds they have to have a five-year vision and beyond, and part of the challenge in doing that is being trapped by what's been done in the past.
