Bruce Power's Mike Rencheck Part Of Modular Reactor Development

A Florida-based energy technology company will benefit from the expertise of Bruce Power's president and CEO.

Mike Rencheck is joining the Advisory Council for Holtec International.  The Advisory Council reviews and critiques the company's SMR-160 small modular reactor.

The SMR-160 is described as a safe and economical modular reactor with the flexibility to be used in remote locations with limited water supplies or land.  It also has industrial applications where traditional larger reactors are not practical.

Holtec International launched the SMR-160 program in late-2010 with the initial licensing application expected by December 2018.

Earlier this week, SNC-Lavalin and Holtec International announced an agreement which will see SNC-Lavalin assist in the development of the SMR-160.
