Vic Hayter Memorial Trot At Clinton Raceway

The 2nd annual Vic Hayter Memorial Trot takes place at Clinton Raceway next Sunday.  Hayter was a Stratford resident and hotelier who owned standardbreds for 38 years before his death in 2016.

In a release, his family says he rarely missed a Sunday afternoon card at the Clinton Raceway and came up with the Vic Hayter Memorial Trot as a way to honour his memory.

“When my father passed away early in 2016, my family and I were thinking of a way to commemorate his name and keep his memory alive," Greg Hayter said. “It had to be something that matched the things he loved most in life. The three things he loved most were his work, his family and animals, specifically his love for dogs and horses. I knew that we couldn’t include work so I thought what better way to do this then to have a special day in his honour at his all time favourite racetrack involving family, horses and the Humane Society.” he goes on to mention. “So of this, the 1st annual Vic Hayter Memorial day at the races was born. My family and I have vowed to continue this tradition year after year in hopes that the day will only become bigger and better, year after year, all the while keeping the memory of Big Vic alive!”

There will be a fundraiser for the Stratford Perth Humane Society and the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society as well as a Pineridge Roast Beef BBQ with proceeds going to both causes.

Post time for the 10 race card July 23rd including the $12,500 Vic Hayter Memorial Trot is 1:30 pm.
