The general manager of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority says his initial reaction to proposed provincial legislation regarding conservation authorities is optimistic.
Brian Horner points out the legislation has only had first reading and the changes appear to be minor so far. But he says they address some of things that conservation authorities had suggested.
Horner says those changes include an update to funding levels; conservation authorities will be required to meet the best management practices and standards of the private sector; and a Stop Work Order provision for conservation authorities.
