Man Who Fell into Elora Gorge In Stable Condition

A young man who fell into the Elora Gorge is now listed in stable condition in a Toronto hospital.

Wellington County OPP say the 20-year-old North York man was climbing a 50-60 ft section of the gorge with three friends Monday evening, when they discovered they were on private property and decided to climb back down. During the descent the victim fell suffering life threatening injuries.

Centre Wellington Fire Department responded to the banks of the Irvine River, north of the David St. bridge in Elora and performed a high angle rescue and got the man out of the gorge. He was then airlifted to St. Michael's hospital with life threatening injuries.

Wellington OPP are reminding hikers and campers to stay to the trails and obey signs and notices.
