Safety Concerns Spur Bridge Building

The stewardship manager for the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority says they're just about ready to start construction on a bridge that will connect the north and south areas of the McNaughton – Morrison Trail for pedestrians, hikers, cyclists and the Trailmobile.

Kate Monk says, right now, they have to cross Morrison Line which is a two lane, paved township road with very narrow shoulders and they feel it represents a significant risk.

Monk says they estimate the bridge will cost between $175,000 and $200,000, but they've already raised over $136,000.

The idea of the Morrison Line Pedestrian Bridge will go to a steering committee, and Monk adds they hope to have it built by 2018.
