Goderich CAO Sees A Lot of Changes In 40 Years

The Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators recently recognized the CAO of Goderich, Larry McCabe, for his 40 years of service in administration to the town.

McCabe says the population of the town hasn't grown a lot in those 40 years, but there have been some significant changes.  He says those changes include the purchase of the harbour by the town and the expansion, which is about to start this summer, as well as the development of an industrial park.

The 2011 Goderich tornado obviously had a major impact on the town, but McCabe says because so many people saw that as an opportunity, the town was able to rebuild and improve many the buildings that were lost or damaged.

He says Goderich has a strong economy and is open for business and he looks forward to the future.

McCabe says the challenges in the future are the same challenges facing most municipalities in Huron County -- restoring and maintaining infrastructure with increasing demands and reduced funds from the province.
