Durham Raw Milk Farmer's Case Undecided

Durham area dairy farmer Michael Schmidt believes a judges decision on his raw milk operation could go either way.
York Region and The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) want an injunction to shut down the raw milk operation on Schmidt's farm. Four days of hearings have wrapped up in a Newmarket court. Schmidt maintains he's just providing people with unpasteurized milk from cows they own and he takes care of. He says it will be up to those people what happens next if the injunction is granted.
"Since I'm not in charge and I'm not the owner I cannot comment on that. The only thing I can tell you, if there's an injunction, there will be problems. That's the indication I got from the members," says Schmidt.
He adds there are about 600 people involved and if the injunction is granted it won't solve anything.
"Because there is an underground market admitted by the government themselves that there are 200 thousand minimum in Ontario drinking raw milk. We have 130 families that's roughly 600 people. Where do the other people get their raw milk from?"
Schmidt has no idea how long it will take for the judge to render a decision. He has approximately ten thousand pages of evidence to go through.
