Huron County and South Bruce OPP says the unofficial return of summer will bring out pleasure crafts of all shapes and sizes to Lake Huron and other inland bodies of water.
OPP say local marine units will also head out on the water this Victoria Day Long Weekend and will continue patrols throughout the summer.
The OPP Marine Units in South Bruce and Huron are reminding those out on the water to make it a safe boating season.
They remind operators to ensure they have their safety course and operator card, along with life jackets and other safety equipment.
You should always check the marine weather forecast as conditions can quickly change.
You should have charts and a compass, and be aware of local hazards, water levels and tides.
And always let someone know of your planned route and time of return.
Make your to leave the beer on the pier, check your boat's condition and conduct regular maintenance.
You should plan to have a third of your fuel left in reserve, after your round trip.
