Southgate is going to spend about $63,000 on upgrades to the village of Holstein.
The work includes $1,200 for new flooring in the Pavilion, $9,000 for Holstein trails, and $53,000 for Holstein paved sidewalks, linking the downtown with the school at the north end of the community.
Southgate will dip into the community fund for $45,000 provided by the Samsung solar project located north of Holstein.
Skateboarders in Dundalk also got good news from Southgate council.
The municipality will spend $55,000 for a combination steel and concrete skate park upgrade.
Half the amount or $27,500 will come from the Ontario Trillium Fund and the other half from Southgate.
Council heard that an all-concrete skate park would have been preferred but the $250,000 price tag made the cost prohibitive.
