The province's Special Investigations Unit has taken over a Perth County OPP case.
Officers stopped a vehicle just after midnight Tuesday on Hwy. 23 near Bornholm, but the driver fled from police.
He was spotted six hours later travelling into Middlesex County. The vehicle was stopped just north of London, where the driver fled on foot.
Officers found a male suspect a short time later and took him into custody. He was injured during the interaction, and taken to hospital for treatment.
Because of the interaction with police, the SIU has invoked its mandate.
