Brussels Optimist Club Supports Hospital Foundations

Members of the Brussels Optimist Club have been sharing their good fortune.

Their annual dinner and auction event last month raised over $30,000.

Optimist members presented a donation of $4,000 to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation. Three other area hospitals and fire departments also received portions of the proceeds.

"It's important to the club to support our hospitals because even though we may not want to use them, we definitely want them to always be there when we need them," says Brussels Optimist Club President Corey Campbell.

The redevelopment project at the Wingham and District Hospital includes the expansion of the only chemotherapy clinic in Huron and Bruce counties. Construction on the $17-million project has begun and is expected to take two years to complete.

Community donations, like the $4,000 contribution from the Brussels Optimist Club, directly benefit the renovation and equipment needs associated with the project.
