Hanover Residents Urged To Send Message To LHIN

A large crowd in Hanover rallied in support of the Hanover and District Hospital's effort to get a CT scanner.   But they were in for a shock.

Hospital officials had applied to the South West LHIN for the much needed diagnostic equipment. But just a few hours before the rally, hospital CEO Katrina Wilson heard from the LHIN that its staff was recommending against Hanover getting the scanner.

Wilson says they say it's because there's already a scanner in Walkerton. She says it's now up to the community to send the LHIN board a message.

"We're asking the community to support us and Dave Hocking who is the community rep has taken on the task of trying to get the community rallied up to make sure that they are very vocal about their support for the CT scanner," says Wilson.

A Hanover couple, Barb and Henry Lansink, has pledged $1.5-million for the scanner at the Hanover hospital.

Wilson says that would completely pay for the machine as well as all the cost of hospital renovations.

The next LHIN board meeting is Tuesday in Dutton.  Buses are being arranged for people to go from Hanover to the meeting as a show of support.
