Incident At Bruce Power Plant Injures One Worker

A Bruce Power employee had to be taken to hospital Sunday after being injured on the job.

The company says the unidentified worker was hurt during electrical maintenance work as part of the planned outage of Unit 5 at the Bruce-B station.

The worker received an electrical shock and was taken to an off-site hospital for treatment.  The extent of the worker's injuries is unknown, however, the company says the employee was stable throughout the emergency response.

Manager of Communications and Media Relations John Peevers says Bruce Power will find out exactly what happened.

“Bruce Power takes any safety event very seriously and immediate actions have been taken to prevent reoccurrence with other workers carrying out similar work,” says Peevers. “Any type of workplace injury that occurs on the site is viewed by Bruce Power as preventable.”

Peevers says the Ministry of Labour has been notified and Bruce Power is conducting its own investigation to learn how to prevent similar incidents in the future.
