Meaford Begins Search For New Library Location

Meaford council wants to find out if a commercial building near the west end of town would make a good place for its public library.

The Committee of the While recommended that council direct senior staff hire L.G.A. Architectural Partners. The company will be asked to complete architectural plans and a cost analysis for a building at 390 Sykes St. in Meaford.

The estimated cost for this project would be about $15,300.

The architects goal is to show how Meaford can use the 8,000 sq ft of floor space in the building to provide enough space for a public library.

The building is now occupied by the local office of Cooperators Insurance and the Grey County OPP detachment.

The committee also recommended that Meaford council direct staff to team up with the Facilities Division of the OPP to find suitable space elsewhere in the municipality to house a community policing office.
