KDSS Vimy 100 Trip Gets Donation From Legion Branch

The Kincardine branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is helping to send students to Vimy Ridge.

Legion representatives delivered a cheque for $4,400 to Kincardine District Secondary School on Tuesday. The money goes toward the school’s upcoming Vimy 100 field trip.

On April 5, 20 KDSS students will be accompanied by school staff on a flight to Paris, France to attend an event of remembrance April 9 at the Vimy Ridge memorial.

In addition to the opportunity of walking in the footsteps of local war heroes, students will visit Passchendaele, Flanders Fields, and Vimy Ridge to commemorate the 100th anniversary of what is considered one of Canada’s defining moments as a country.

The KDSS students and staff expressed their gratitude to the Kincardine Legion branch members for giving them the opportunity to be part of the milestone anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Students from Owen Sound District Secondary School and Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton will also be part of the Vimy 100 international field trip.
