Central Huron Council Receives United Way Funding Request

The campaign chair for the United Way of Perth-Huron made a unique request to Central Huron council Monday night.

Andrew Williams says the campaign is a little behind its normal pace at this point, so he's asking each municipal council to support the United Way by donating $0.50 for each resident in that municipality.  He's also asking county council to match that, bringing the total to $1 for each resident in the county.

Williams says by doing that, municipal leaders would be showing residents the campaign deserves their support.

The funding request was referred to Central Huron budget deliberations.

One of the points made by Williams was that the United Way is very familiar with the needs of the communities and agencies it serves.

He says that allows it to direct funding to the unique and specific needs of each community and makes sure the money is going where it's needed most.
