Hundreds Attend Career Fair In Clinton

Close to 700 Grade 10 to 12 students from 11 secondary schools in Huron and Perth counties attended a Career Fair in Clinton Thursday.

Over 40 exhibitors showed students the wide range of career opportunities available to them in Huron and Perth.

Jim Brintnell, the project coordinator for Industry Connects, says retaining young people is a challenge for both counties, and while many young people feel they have to move to larger urban centres to find jobs, many Huron and Perth employers are desperately looking for new employees with all skill levels.

Brintnell says the employers who can't provide the training themselves will help students find the right training so they'll have jobs waiting for them when they're finished.

Brintnell adds that the job market is more flexible today than it once was and there are several one-year contract positions available as well as positions for longer periods of time.
