Additional Public Input On Future of Wingham's Howson Dam

Residents in North Huron and other parts of the Maitland River watershed still have one week to offer comments on the future of the Howson Dam.

The aging dam and bridge structure spans the Maitland River in Wingham.

Long term alternatives for the Howson Dam are being evaluated through the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process. That includes consideration of natural, social, economic and cultural factors.

Dozens of people attended a Public Information Center last Thursday evening in Wingham regarding the Class Environmental Assessment.

Public input will be accepted until Friday, October 14 to the Township of North Huron.

Further information is available on the Township of North Huron website, and by contacting the office directly.

Another Public Information Centre will be scheduled for early December to provide North Huron residents with an evaluation of the alternative options for the Howson Dam.
