Bluewater Concerned With ABCA's Draft Shoreline Management Plan

Bluewater councillors have expressed a couple of concerns with the draft Shoreline Management Plan from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority's steering committee.

Mayor Tyler Hessel explains their first concern is the 90-day public consultation period.   He says councillors feel it's too short and have passed a motion requesting a period of six months to a year to give more time for seasonal residents to comment.

They have also formed a committee consisting of the mayor, deputy mayor and Hay West Councillor John Gillispie. They're asking any residents who have concerns about the plan to contact the municipal office.

Hessel says that committee will put a report together outlining their concerns with the plan. He adds it's a critical issue for Bluewater because the municipality includes about 28 km of shoreline, and they have a responsibility to help property owners protect their property.
