County officials have given the all clear following reports of an ammonia leak at the Listowel Memorial Arena.
On Friday around 1pm, the Municipality of North Perth was requesting that any residents within a 0.8 km distance of the arena stay indoors for their own safety. The smell of ammonia was reportedly present outside of the arena.
The leak has since been contained, and an ammonia response team determined that the arena safe and secure at around 5:30pm. A "shelter in place" request has since been lifted and residents are now able to leave their homes.
The cause of the ammonia leak is currently unknown.
