North Huron Updating Developmental Charges

North Huron will soon have a prepared draft by-law for updated developmental charges.

Chief Financial Officer Donna White says there are some minor changes in respect to the charges for the three wards.

"The charges are made up of the consistent projects across the three wards. Blyth now has the new well, and Wingham has the sanitary sewer project. For Wingham, we're looking at an increase of $352.39, East Wawanosh an increase of $92.85, and Blyth $1,005.15, but $912.30 of that is for the new well," she says.

White says that there could be increases to the proposed numbers, but the only increase allowable would be through inflation.

"The only allowable increase is by the rate of inflation, so depending on what that is each year, there is a prescribed formula on what that index is. So that is applied annually," she says.

Council must have a draft by-law ready for September 2, and will host a public meeting regarding the updated charges on September 19 at council. The proposed by-law would then come into effect October 7.
