Funding Announced for 'Poverty To Prosperity' Group in Huron

An anti-poverty initiative, based in Huron County, is moving forward.

United Way Perth-Huron has announced funding for the next three years for what is called 'Poverty to Prosperity in Huron'.

It's a collaborative group that brings people together from across sectors to improve the lives of individuals who live in poverty.   The County of Huron, Rural Response for Healthy Children, and Huron County Health Unit have also provided support.

The focus of P-2-P is to build the capacity of Huron County to decrease poverty and its impact. A part-time coordinator will work for the group as it defines the strengths, assets and gaps in community services.

Ryan Erb, Executive Director of United Way Perth-Huron, states "United Way Perth-Huron is very pleased to continue collaborating with community to incubate valuable new services such as Poverty to Prosperity’s 'Destination – Prosperity: Working Together to Support Communities' program.   This community development strategy will enhance existing services in three of Huron County’s most socially isolated and underserviced communities."
