Dream of Glory Returns to Hanover Raceway

The biggest race of the season is on this weekend at Hanover Raceway. The 15th annual Dream of Glory Trot takes to the half-mile and General Manager Gord Dougan says it will an exciting race.

Dougan calls  it was one of the toughest Dream of Glory finals to handicap.

"Ya this year's event is going to be really interesting," he says, "because one of the favourites drew the outside so it's going to be tougher for him to get to the front."

Dougan says there are a number of local horses competiting including father and son team Peter and Curtis Clements of Dobbington.

"And then we have trainer John Bax who's won the Dream of Glory three times and Keith Jones who won our first ever Dream of Glory with Abby Road C. He went on to win $2 million."

The purse for Saturday's final is $67,500 dollars. Hanover also has five divisions of 3-year-old Colt pacers competing in the Ontario Sires Stakes.

The evening starts at 5:00 p.m. with a beef barbecue and a live band. After the racing is through at 10:00 p.m. there will be a fireworks display.
