Stratford Facility Receives Funding To Boost Workforce

The Ontario government is investing in opportunities in Stratford.

An announcement today at Schaeffler Group in Stratford celebrated the Ontario government investing $1.3-million into the company to boost the workforce. Kitchener Centre MPP Diaene Vernile was part of the announcement, and spoke about the importance of investing in new manufacturing jobs in the province.

"Very excited to announce this grant of $1.3-million into Schaeffler. This is coming through the South Western Ontario Development Fund. This factory has roughly 400 employees, and through this grant, they'll be looking to add about 44 more," she says.

Vernile took a tour of the Schaeffler facility after the announcement, and shook the hands of employees on the factory floor. She says investing in manufacturing jobs are very important.

"When I was a teenager, I worked at a factory in Toronto. Many students tell us their first jobs were in factories," she says. "These jobs create good opportunities, a stable wage, and growth for the economy. I had numerous employees here tell me they've been here over 20 years, one gentlemen told me he's been here 29 years. These jobs are important and investing in them is key."
