Dr. Hazel Lynn Preparing For Retirement Next Month

After 16 years, Dr. Hazel Lynn is stepping down next month as the Medical Officer of Health for Grey-Bruce.

Dr. Lynn is doing a tour of the 17 municipalities she has been responsible for, including Brockton on Monday.

She reflected on many of the initiatives and projects she has overseen, including the Walkerton water crisis, local alcohol health studies, child obesity and baby health, and Smoke Free Ontario.

"Smoke Free Ontario was big, even though we took some initial grief at the office, it was amazing after 3 months, how many people were happy that restaurants were smoke free.   Also, just studying the benefits and challenges facing local youth as far as being healthy and active."

Dr. Lynn expects her replacement to be named in a few weeks.

The Grey-Bruce health team is having a retirement party for Dr. Lynn on June 28th at Cobble Beach.
